Introducing Agent Builder: Build Custom AI Agents With Simple Chat Prompts

Samanee Mahbub|Feb 13, 2026

As AI agents enter into mainstream work conversation, teams often have an idea of the kind of help an AI agent could provide. Something that can answer questions using internal documentation, pull together information that lives across different tools and systems or gives sales, marketing, or operations better context in the moment they need it. The intent is there, but the path forward usually isn’t.

Turning an idea into a working AI agent isn’t easy. Even when it works, the cycle is slow. When it doesn’t, the cost is more back-and-forth and more time lost.

We created Agent Builder to close that gap. It gives teams an easy and practical way to turn ideas into working agents without needing engineering support or specialized AI expertise.

Introducing Agent Builder

Agent Builder is our prompt-based approach for building custom, private AI agents around real business workflows. It is designed for people who can simply explain what they want to build without getting bogged down in technical details.

With Agent Builder, teams can create agents that:

  • Take action using internal and external sources
  • Generate summaries, reports, or comparisons from company data
  • Search the web, create PDFs, and share them by email or Slack
  • Support day-to-day workflows and decision-making across teams

Agents built in Agent Studio are meant to be used, shared, and improved over time as the agents learn more about your team and your workflows.

How Agent Builder works

Building an agent starts with a conversation.

You chat with Rudder, Squid AI’s agent builder, and describe the agent you want to create. That includes things like:

  • The role the agent should play
  • The intended audience for the agent such as sales or marketing
  • The sources it should pull from, such as internal documents, emails, Slack messages, or trusted web pages

Based on that conversation, Rudder assembles the agent’s behavior and data access. You can review what it produces, refine the instructions, and adjust the sources if needed. Agent Builder iterates with you within the chat, so you can refine and hone your agent.

Once you are happy with it, you publish the agent. From start to finish, this usually takes minutes, not weeks.

Sharing agents with the Share Portal

Once agents exist, the next challenge is making sure others in your organization can actually use them.

The Share Portal is where published agents live. It allows teams to:

  • Securely share agents with others across the organization
  • Discover agents that already exist
  • Reuse proven workflows instead of rebuilding them

Over time, this creates a growing set of shared agents that reflect how the organization works. Instead of knowledge living in scattered documents or individual dashboards, it becomes accessible through agents that anyone in your organization can interact with.

Security and compliance built in

Making agent creation easier does not mean loosening controls.

Agent Builder respects existing permissions and access rules. Agents only surface information that a user is already authorized to see. If a user does not have access to a document, message, or system, the agent will not expose it.

This applies even when an agent reasons across multiple sources. Access controls remain intact, which allows teams to scale agent usage without introducing new security or compliance risks.

Real-life use cases

Let’s see examples of two agents you can build using the Agent Builder.

Business Intelligence Agent

In many teams, getting answers from data takes longer than it should. Information lives across dashboards, spreadsheets, and documents, and pulling it together usually means waiting on a custom report or asking someone who already has too much on their plate. Even when reports exist, they are often static and not built for the specific question someone has in the moment.

A Business Intelligence Agent is designed to close that gap. It acts like an always-available analyst that can generate reports, summarize performance, and create visualizations using your internal data. When additional context is useful, it can also look to trusted external sources to add explanation or comparison.

The result is faster access to insight without relying on ad hoc requests or jumping between multiple tools. Teams spend less time searching for answers and more time acting on them.

Competitive Intelligence Agent

Sales and marketing teams are often expected to speak confidently about competitors, pricing, and differentiation, even though that information is scattered across battlecards, internal documents, and past conversations. When answers are not easy to find, teams either delay, guess, or default to generic messaging.

A Competitive Intelligence Agent brings that information together in one place. It uses your internal battlecards and pricing documents to help compare products, highlight differentiators, and support objection handling in a clear, factual way. The agent is designed to stay professional and accurate, never speculating or overstating claims.

The outcome is more consistent messaging, better-prepared sales conversations, and less time spent searching for the right materials.

The benefits to your team

Agent Builder shortens the distance between an idea and a working tool. Teams can create and deploy agents in minutes instead of weeks, which makes it easier to test ideas, refine them quickly, and respond to changing needs without long development cycles.

It also reduces reliance on engineering for day-to-day AI requests. Business teams can build and adjust agents themselves, while engineering teams stay focused on higher-impact work. Because agents are created around real workflows and real data, they tend to be used more consistently than generic tools.

As agents are shared through the Share Portal, the value compounds. Useful agents do not stay isolated to one team, and work done once can support many others. Over time, this leads to faster decision-making, less duplicated effort, and lower operational overhead across the organization.
